Do you love cranberries? Because they are the best in the Fall. Cranberry Sauce is a favorite but did you know there are so many other things you can do with cranberry?
Not only can you add them to breakfast, lunch and dinner, but they can be a dish all by themselves. Here are some of the best ways to eat cranberries this Fall season.
Cranberry Sauce
Yes, I know, so basic. But Cranberry Sauce has got to be one of the easiest things to make homemade. It’s literally three ingredients and once you add it to the pan, it cooks itself. Just add a bag of fresh cranberries to a saucepan with a splash of orange juice and a drizzle of honey. Cook on medium until about half of the cranberries have popped and all of the ingredients have come together, about 15 minutes.
Not only is this a delicious side dish in itself but it can be mixed into other things or used as a sweet and tart topping.
Cranberry Orange Muffins
Cranberry and orange has got to be one of the best combinations, especially for this time of year. And when these two are combined, almost everything tastes great because of it. Whether you want muffins or bread, a delicious topping for meat or ice cream, or you want to mix the two juices together for a drink, you will love these two flavors together.
Oatmeal with Apple and Cranberries
A warm bowl of steaming oatmeal is just as comforting and delicious as all of the toppings you can add to it. Chopped apples and cranberries are the perfect pairing of the Fall and will give your oatmeal some color and a lot of flavor! Also drizzle some honey for some sweetener and use a splash of your favorite type of milk and there you have it, breakfast is served!
Cranberry Bread
Because of the tartness of cranberries, it’s a great fruit for baking. Adding cranberries to bread will give your baked item a gorgeous color and a taste that cannot be compared. Cranberry breads are delicious with nuts, other berries, orange, and honey.
Pork Chops with Cranberry Sauce
Like I was saying earlier, if you want a delicious topping for pork and other meats alike, cranberry sauce is perfect! Just make the cranberry sauce (instructions above under Cranberry Sauce) and you will love this as a topping! Pork chops are great in the Fall and if you add some chopped apples to your cranberry sauce, that would complement the pork chops even more.
Cranberry and Apple Crisp
These two fruits are both seasonally the best in the Fall and they are even better together. Make the Cranberry Sauce and add chopped apples. Add this to the bottom of a pie pan. In a small bowl, separately mix a handful of oats with a couple of tablespoons of butter, some shakes of cinnamon and a little brown sugar. Add a pinch of salt and stir to combine. Spread the mixture over the cranberry and apples and bake until the topping begins to turn brown. Even add nuts if you like and it will be the best cranberry apple crisp you’ve ever had!
If these recipes don’t sound amazing to you, you must not like cranberry. But seriously, try some and see what you do like them in. Because they are delicious in all kinds of foods, and drinks. Speaking of which, stay tuned for Cranberry Drinks, to come!
