A Quick Guide to Dining Out in Canary Wharf, London

London plays host to a whole range of restaurants that cater to every budget and every taste, with cuisines originating from the far-flung shores of Asia nestled alongside ingredients found on our very doorstep.

And, although it’s mostly known as the business district of the city, Canary Wharf is no different. With loads of restaurants to choose from and a whole variety of foods to discover, we’ve put together this quick guide to dining out in the area, containing a few of our favourite options.

Bella Cosa

£££
This Italian restaurant expertly combines the flavoursome ingredients of the country with the head chef’s Japanese roots, producing some stunning contemporary dishes that are just bursting with flavour. You can find more traditional Italian dishes on the menu, or challenge your taste buds with some more daring choices.

Plateau

££££
Plateau is located at the top of Canada Place and offers a view of the London skyline like no other, which is perfectly matched to the elegant French dishes produced by head chef Jeremy Trehout. Offering a restaurant and a more formal grill, there are lots of menus to choose from.

Gaucho

£££
This Argentinian eatery offers a superb taste of South America at the heart of the financial district. With the choice of al fresco dining on the riverside terrace, as well as a luxurious cocktail lounge, this is the place to go for superb steaks. You can even pair your meal with a perfectly matched cigar!

Boisdale

££ – £££
This is a lively restaurant and live music venue serving modern British food, alongside a whisky bar, terrace, oyster bar, and grill. You can find excellent shellfish alongside tasty game and linguine, with a distinctive Scottish slant to most of the dishes, accompanied by jazz, blues, and soul music throughout the week.

Sri Nam

££
This restaurant brings the taste of Asia to London, with dishes from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and China making up the extensive menu. You can find a casual brasserie on the ground floor, with an elegant dining room found at the top of the sweeping staircase. Whichever you choose, you’ll be rewarded with magnificent flavours.

Chai Kai

££
This venue actually boasts two great eateries: the more formal dinner restaurant and the all-day Toddy Shop Bar and Kitchen. Specialising in great Indian dishes, both of these eateries serve authentic sharing plates, signature cocktails, and specially-selected craft beers.

Davy’s

££ – £££
This restaurant specialises in traditional British favourites made up of fresh, seasonal ingredients, as well as a ‘grazing’ menu of smaller plates, sharing boards, and sandwiches. It offers a contemporary touch of Victorian London, combining its heritage as a Victorian wine merchant with a thoroughly modern approach to dining.

Sticks’n’Sushi

£ – £££
This is one of the best, and most affordable places in the city to enjoy traditional sushi and yakitori sticks straight from the grill. It offers a stylish yet relaxed experience and the dishes are bursting full of delicious Asian flavours. You can select from fish, chicken, beef, pork, and vegetable options, all of which are freshly prepared in-house.

These are just a few of the many options available in Canary Wharf, but we hope this has given you a little taste of the great food on offer in the area!
