I’m sure you think your simple sausage, egg, and cheese is fine, but does it have crunchy maple crystals in it? I’m guessing no. One more question, is yours sandwiched between two pancakes? I didn’t think so. This one is. And it’s about to absolutely change your breakfast. We have McDonald’s McGriddles to thank for the idea, but this recipe goes beyond the scope of what fast-food assembly line churns out.

Instructions:

Cover a shallow baking pan with parchment paper and put it in the freezer.

Pour syrup into a small pot and keep it on the stove over medium heat. Wait until it simmers, however, keep stirring continuously.

Cook it until it gets heavy, dense, and almost looks “whipped,”, it will not take more than 10 minutes.

Once it emits a caramel-type scent, put it away from heat.

Load the syrup into the cooled pan and let it cool and harden completely.

Using a rolling pin or the handle of a large spoon, shatter the cooled syrup into tiny shards; set aside.

Take a large bowl, mix together Bisquick, milk, egg, oil, sugar, and baking powder.

Preheat a griddle or large nonstick skillet over medium heat.

If using pancake molds, grease the insides with cooking spray and put on the griddle.

Pour 1 tablespoon of batter into each mold, sprinkle 1 teaspoon of maple crystals uniformly over the pancakes, and pour 1 tablespoon of batter on top.

Cook until the sides appear crispy and bubbles explode on top, leaving tiny craters.

Remove the rings with tongs and rotate the cakes.

Cook for another 1 to 2 minutes until done.

Repeat until you have 12 pancakes.

Top half of the pancakes with cheese, bacon, and scrambled eggs. Finish them off with the leftover pancakes.
