Do you love the Fall as much as I do? Those bright reds, burnt oranges, and electric yellows delight my senses and there is nothing more beautiful than the Fall colors. Same?
Then you must visit these awe-inspiring places and take all the pictures! Like with many places that look and feel like Fall, it doesn’t last long before the winter sets in and the color change is no more. Enjoy it now and visit these places for the best views you can get!
Stowe, Vermont
Stowe is called “Fall’s Color Capital,” and for good reason! The trees and plants alike turn various shades of yellow, red, orange, and brown from late September through mid-October. Stowe is a great place to hike or ride.
Columbia River Gorge, Oregon
From personal experience, I can tell you how absolutely gorgeous this place is year around. The gorge, foliage, waterfalls, and area has some of the lushest and most beautiful views of the pacific northwest. And in the Fall? This is said to be the best times to visit this region. October and November at Mount Hood are perfect for hiking, biking, and picture-taking of the best looking Fall foliage you have ever seen.
Smoky Mountains, Tennessee
If you think these mountains are amazing in the summer, you should see them in the Fall. Swoon worthy! The weather is beautiful and temperate, making it the perfect time to be outside. Want to hike, bike, or see the sights by foot? You can do it without even breaking a sweat. For the best colors in the region, visit mid-October to early November. There are plenty of fairs and festivals to enjoy during this time, too.
The Blue Ridge Mountains
This 470 mile stretch extends from the Great Smoky Mountains in North Carolina all the way to the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. Not only is the Fall foliage exactly what you wanted and hoped for, but you’ll also have access to amazing hiking trails and local farms, too.
Massachusetts Mohawk Trail
This trail follows a Native American trade route and covers 63 miles. Besides the views and amazing mountain streams along the way, there are lots of pit stops to enjoy and visit. Reviews call it “stunning” and a “spectacular ,scenic road trip.”
Door County Wisconsin
As a Wisconsin girl, of course I think they have the best of Fall colors. And Door County is as gorgeous and scenic a place no matter the time of the year. But during the Fall? Perfection. The four state parks that boast the best fall colors are Newport State Park, Potawatomi State Park (and their observation tower,) the Door County Trolly Tour, and Fish Creek Scenic Boat Tour.
These places are the most luxurious and plentiful if you’re looking for fall foliage and amazing seasonal colors. Whether you’re driving, hiking, or just wanting to get a few snapshots, these are the places to do that and you have to see them.
Which one is your favorite? Well, you will have to visit them all before you can pick! Or you can be like me, and just claim Door County Wisconsin has the best Fall colors. That works, too.
