Central Wisconsin is rural, full of corn fields, and lots of trees. But it also has fun small towns, and Rome, Wisconsin is
There are so many things to do in this small town and the summer is the best time to visit. With lots of lakes, recreational activities, and events, you can always find something to do and a fun date to go on. Here are the best dates to enjoy in this small town.
Ski Show
Water ski show, that is. The Shermalot Ski Team puts on a water ski show every Saturday throughout the summer. And if you want to see two shows a week, during the month of July, there’s a show each Wednesday night in addition to the Saturday night show. Yay! There are lots of skiers, tricks, and even a pyramid with up to 30 skiers, skiing, and balancing and all! These shows are fun to watch and perfect for date night, even double date night, or for a family night!
Farmers Market
Small town it is but a small farmers market, it is not. Farmers markets are great for dates. I love to walk around and check out all the stands. There are lots of fruits and vegetables, homemade salsas and jams, cheese and meat stands, and even other things for sale like Pampered Chef and home-knit blankets and mittens. This farmers market runs during the summer on Friday mornings and you have to check it out!
Splash Pad
This is a new addition to the town and although it’s a little juvenile, there’s nothing wrong with a date at the splash pad! Especially if it’s hot, which Wisconsin summers tend to be. You don’t even need a swimsuit to indulge. Just go, roll up your pants, (if you are wearing them,) and get your feet into that chilled water! There are flowers and a mushroom painted bright and squirting water. It’s all you need to cool off under the hot sun.
Papa Bears Mini Golf
Talk about date night, or for that matter, date day. This mini golf course is new as of 2018 and super fun. There are different holes with lots of bear statues, because Papa Bears. One hole has a Plinko type set up where you hit your ball in and there are two holes with two different ways that the ball would go. You better pick the right hole for this one! There are lots of water hazards, so watch out for those. And if you love it enough to do it every week, you can join the mini golf league. There is a concession stand too and lots of picnic tables if you want to enjoy an ice cream or even a beer. (After all, it is Wisconsin.)
Pritzl’s Trading Post
Back in the day, this place was probably a literal trading post. At least, that’s how I like to envision it. These days, it’s a full on one stop shop including a gift shop and outdoor statues, if you’re in the market to buy a new one. So true, this isn’t a place to go on a date, but it’s a great stop during a date night! Speaking of which, have you ever tried a Bachelor style date? Pritzl’s would be the perfect first stop, on the way to your date. There is a huge beer selection dubbed the ‘Beer Cave,’ and they also have other cold drinks and even cold wines or champs, if you prefer. You can grab some fresh fruit or cut up fruit to enjoy, a bag of snacks, some cheese and meat sticks, and you’re off! Find a fun park or a picnic bench with a nice view and enjoy some drinks and snacks, instadate!
So, if you find yourself in Rome, Wisconsin, you will find lots of fun date spots to visit. And because it’s such an outdoorsy area, you can also hike, bike, boat, SUP, use ATVs, kayak, golf, canoe, and so much more! What’s your idea of a perfect date day?
