Explore Big Island
Also known as the Island of Hawaii, Big Island features some of the world’s most active volcanoes.
In fact, the island itself is still molding. Witness before your very own eyes as the island reshapes itself. Although eruptions closed much of the island in 2018, there are many hiking trails that have since reopened.
Visit Pearl Harbor
Based on the island of Oahu, this structure is only accessible by boat. Visit to pay your respects as well as learn about the event that convinced America to get involved in World War II.
It is free to visit the memorial although a timed ticket entry is required. You can even still see oil leftover from the original ship bubbling in the water.
Attend a Luau
No Hawaiian vacation is complete without a proper luau. The Old Lahaina Luau on Maui is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful and authentic.
The evening is kicked off with colorful cocktails and flowery leis. This is followed by the unearthing of the kalua pig from its underground oven. At sunset, they play traditional Hawaiian music and do plenty of hula dancing.
When you first arrive, you can choose between table and chair seating or you can opt to sit on a cushion around a low table.
Hike to Kaihalulu
Known as Red Sand Beach, Kaihalulu is a beautiful, crescent-shaped beach in Maui. The sand is rich in iron, making it red and seemingly alien.
Kaihalulu translates to “roaring sea”. The water is rather choppy and visitors are encouraged to avoid swim. However, you don’t need to get wet to enjoy this beach.
The hikes are absolutely superb with the most stunning views. And don’t be surprised if you find people tanning in their birthday suits at this secret beach.
