Why Your Next Vacation Destination Should Be Vancouver

Imagine seeing mountains, the beach, the forest, a busy downtown, and a water park, all in the same day.

What about all in one hour? Without ever leaving the city.

Now you know what I mean when I say Vancouver has it all. And that doesn’t even count the food (holy foodie scene,) or the amazing weather. I’ll go on.

Dates

Where do I even start? If you love to go on dates outside (think hiking, walking, the beach, bike riding,) then you can literally do that all in Vancouver. The food scene is one for the books, too, and there is so much going on, you will never be bored.

This city has such diverse areas in such “close” surroundings that you can do it all in one day. But why rush? Stay for at least a week!

Food

For the eating part, if you love seafood, this water side city is full of sushi, mussels, lobster, fish, and so much more. And better yet, it’s fresh, delicious, and locally sourced.

But you can find anything you want to eat in the city, and even in the surrounding areas. You can choose from Chinese, Greek, Vietnamese, Sichuan, Italian, and lots of bakeries, coffee shops, and delis along the way.

Beach

There are plenty of beaches here in Vancouver, too. Some are all sand, some have a lot of rocks, and some have a mixture. The west part of Vancouver is known for its beaches so check them out! All of Vancouver’s shoreline is full of beautiful, blue water, and gorgeous views.

Biking

Biking in Vancouver (as the best date EVER) is tough to beat. This super fun activity is made so easy with bike rentals, from stores or an app that allows you to rent bikes right from the street. There are amazing paths all around the city, (the absolute best being around Stanley Park,) and this is by far the easiest and most bike friendly city I have ever been in. There are bike only lanes everywhere making it safer and easier for everyone to share the sidewalks.

Parks

Just look at a map and you will see all the parks, some small, some large, and some truly sprawling. The whole city is green and full of trees, plants, flowers, and other foliage and the parks are no different.

And a Water Park?

So if you bike around or go to Stanley Park, you will see (or visit) the water park, almost right in the middle of the city. Seriously, where else do you see this? I never have! Also, there are splash pads right downtown, in lots of parks, and more.

Cheap and Easy Public Transportation

You can figure out the buses and SkyTrain easily enough. And if you have questions, just ask! Canadians are super nice, helpful, and will go out of their way to give you tips. The only downside I’ve really seen at all here is that they don’t have Uber. But I think the bus is fun and it’s such a steal of a deal.

Walkable

Lastly, this city is so walkable. Because of all the great stuff packed in, you can do pretty much anything you want on foot. Also, it’s a hilly and mountainous area, so you will be tightening and strengthening your physique along the way. Win-win.

I love this city and I cannot wait to explore it more. Seiously, what’s not to love?
