Christmas shopping for a significant other can be tricky. You want to find the perfect gift that shows how much you care while also being something useful. However, when you are in a new relationship that is only just getting off the ground, the subject of Christmas presents can be even more complicated.

You certainly don’t want to be the type of person who doesn’t give a gift at all to a new boyfriend or girlfriend at Christmas, but you also don’t want to go overboard and overwhelm your new significant other. Moreover, you might not have spent enough time together yet to know what their tastes and interests are.

If you are struggling to come up with the ideal Christmas gift for your new significant other, here are three ideas to consider that are thoughtful without being too overbearing:

1. A Gift Box

When you are still settling into a new relationship, purchasing an expensive Christmas gift can send the wrong message. Furthermore, not having had the chance to learn enough about the new person in your life can leave you taking a shot in the dark about what sort of gift they would actually enjoy. This is why it can be helpful to assemble a gift box for your new person instead of going all-out on a pricey present.

A gift box can include several smaller things that you know they will appreciate. You can even go a bit more generic with the items in the box since the fact that you have assembled it yourself will be enough of a gesture for your new significant other. Include things like a Wagamama gift card from Gifts Vouchers and a nicely scented candle. Make sure to package things up carefully for a lovely presentation.

2. Concert Tickets

New relationships mean that you get the chance to make new memories together and have new experiences. If your new significant other is into music, concert tickets make for a great Christmas gift. This gift is not as overwhelming as an expensive item and can show how excited you are to create new memories with that person.

The way to hit the right note with this gift is to make sure that the concert you get tickets for is not too far in advance and isn’t too expensive. Go for something fun and a bit low-key so that there is no pressure to the situation.

3. A Quality Diary

Another gift that is not too personal that will be just as useful as it is nice, is a quality diary for the new year. Even though some people prefer to keep their schedules on their phones, the majority still like to put pen to paper when listing out their tasks for the week. A good quality diary for the new year is a thoughtful and simple gift that will remind your new significant other of you every time they use it.
